For anyone who was fortunate enough to attended the Christian Dior haute couture show Raf Simons created back in July his spring/summer 2015 ready to wear collection for the house shown on Friday must have elicited a feeling of déjà vu. It was the sartorial equivalent of the theory of trickle down economics- i.e. create for the top (couture) and it will trickle down to the needy (ready to wear).

Laura and Kate Mulleavy have a cult-like status. They started in fashion with a bang and the promise of couture-level clothes in New York. Their path since has had highs and lows, but this collection should give them upward momentum. They skewed perception, like fashion's current fascination with all things sport. They turned the baseball jacket literally on its head, the striped trim peeking out from underneath sequined mermaid dresses, while the tops of the looks were sequined athletic jersey shapes.
